The Ugandan pop star turned politician Bobi Wine aka the Ghetto gladiator and the leader of Fire Base crew had organised a concert in Boston US. The concert is slated to take place today, 22nd October 2022, at Boston Marriott Hotel Burlington One, Burlington Mall Road, Burlington, United States.

Following a petition from concerned citizens about Bobi Wine’s visitor’s status to Homeland land Security and immigration, Ms Michelle Wu, the Mayor of Boston and Head of Municipal Government said the concert hangs in balance on grounds of Visa rules violations.

In a statement released early today, Wu said that Bobi Wine only has a visitor’s Visa that cannot permit him to perform on stage or organise any music concert in the USA. According to Wu, for one to perform he or she must first acquire an authorisation permit from relevant authorities.

“The Municipal Government has learnt of an illegal music concert organised by Ugandan musicians at Boston Marriott Hotel Burlington One, Burlington Mall Road, Burlington, United States. However, we are concerned about the Visa rules violations. None of the participants has obtained an authorisation permit or sought authorisation,” the statement read.

This has raised concerns among a section of Ugandans in the US who had bought tickets for the concert about the possibility of losing their hard-earned dollars as it recently happened in UAE. The ticket was being sold at USD 100 for general admission and USD 1500 for a table of five.

It should be noted that this is the second time in a roll that a related concert organised by Bobi Wine is being cancelled in a different continent on similar grounds. With the continued behaviour, Bobi Wine risks being denied a Visa in future.
