NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who traveled to Norway last week has reaffirmed his pledge to continue supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

Despite intense pressure from his fans and fellow Ugandans to abandon his LGBTQ+ support, Bobi Wine assured his gay backers in his address at a sham documentary viewing convention in Oslo, Norway, and vowed to keep working to improve relations between the two communities.

“The fundamental rights of gays in Uganda continue to be abused with formulating bogus laws. However, we are determined to fight this and promise that with your continued support, we are bound to win,” said Bobi Wine.

He also promised his hosts that he would do everything in his power to stop the anti-gay legislation from becoming law, reassuring them that he would battle for the rights of homosexuals.

Bobi Wine’s position on whether or not he promotes homosexuality in Uganda has been called into question on multiple instances. His followers have persisted in harassing him for his opinion, but the NUP party president has stayed “unclear” on the issue the entire time.

His shady behavior has continued to raise red flags among some of his followers, who have since openly chastised their leader for clouding his support for homosexuals in order to keep funds from the pro-gay communities and organizations flowing.

While appearing on BBS television, Bobi wine stopped short of giving his personal views on the proposed legislation. He did, however, remark that his position on LGBT relations had long been known by those around him, including those in his party.

On March 21, 2023, the Ugandan Parliament passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, which had the support of the vast majority of Ugandans.
