BETRAYAL: NUP’s Jolly Mugisha Dies Miserably After Bobi Wine Refused Request for Foreign Treatment

Jolly Mugisha, the National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy president for western Uganda, has died under heartbreaking circumstances after the party she had dedicated her life to serving abandoned her when her health started deteriorating.

Mugisha has been suffering from serious health issues in recent months, but the leader of NUP, Robert Kyagulanyi, rejected her request for specialized foreign medical treatment.

Despite her significant contributions to the party and the struggle for political change, NUP completely abandoned her, leaving her to die miserably.

Last week, her family exposed how NUP leaders, including the party president, Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, never delivered on the promise to take her abroad for specialized treatment like it has been done to other party leaders who have previously been airlifted to treat minor illnesses like scratches.

“On 28, August 2024, Kyagulanyi and Rubongoya visited Jolly in Mbarara Hospital while she was still in ICU, and after we had a meeting where Robert Kyagulanyi promised that Jolly would be flown to Aga Khan Hospital for specialized treatment, in the past two weeks we have been trying to get in touch with them, Lewis, but all in vain,” a close family member said.

He added that when Mugisha was breathing her last, Bobi Wine and other party leaders like Joel Ssenyonyi and David Rubongoya were merrymaking in the UK, which clearly showed how much they disregarded her.

“It is so disheartening to see now Kyagulanyi and Rubongoya posting on social media how they are aggrieved by the death of Jolly Mugisha, yet they abandoned her the time she needed them the most,” adds the family member.

Mugisha’s death and the subsequent lack of support from the party underscore the levels of tribalism and discrimination in the party, with many members bickering that only Baganda and close associates of Bobi Wine get fair treatment.
