Algeria Declares “Full Solidarity” with the Palestinian People

Ahmed Attaf, the foreign minister of Algeria, urged the international community to aid the Palestinians as the Israel-Hamas conflict heats up. He said Algeria stood in complete sympathy with them.

In his remarks during the 20th session of the ministerial meeting of African and Nordic nations in Algiers from October 16 to 18, with the theme “strengthening dialogue based on shared values,”

Attaf added, “Our brothers in the Gaza Strip are living in deplorable humanitarian conditions.”

He further stated that Algeria “calls on the international community to take urgent action on the oppressed and persecuted, to put an end to this aggression, and to relaunch the peace process.”

The two blocs’ key subjects of discussion at the 20th session are irregular migration, climate change, cross-border terrorism, and expanding trade and economic cooperation.

The confrontation between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas has sparked a wave of pro-Palestinian solidarity across North Africa, with rallies taking place in Algeria, Libya, and Morocco.

Algeria’s Supreme Security Council published a statement on Monday emphasising its “rejection of occupation operations against defenceless civilians” and its sympathy with the Palestinian people.

They emphasised that “the radical solution does not lie in genocide or forced displacement, but rather in establishing a Palestinian state.”
