27-Year-Old Woman Arrested in Luwero for Child Torture

Police in Luwero Central Police Station (CPS) are investigating a case of child torture that occurred on August 15, 2023, in Kiyenja Zone, Luwero Town Council, Luwero District.

According to ASP Sam Twiineamazima, the PRO Savannah police in Luwero, in a press release dated August 17, 2023, the suspect, identified as Aisha Nampima, 27, and a resident of the Kiyenja zone, Luwero district, was seen by residents burning, kicking, and beating her 4-year-old daughter Shaninzi Nambooze, accused of stealing meat.

“The residents of the area intervened, and councillor Salim Zimula helped to call the police,” Twiineamazima stated.

ASP Twiineamazima further stated that police officers responded to the location and were able to apprehend the perpetrator, and that the victim was sent to Kasana Hospital for treatment. He says that a case of child torture was registered, and police also recorded statements from relevant witnesses for further investigation.

Police warn that the perpetrators of child torture in the community must face the law and be held accountable for their acts.
