UPDF 5th division commander Brig. William Bainomugisha, during a meeting held in Agoro, Lamwo District cautioned the community living around border points to be mindful of those who seek to gather intelligence from them. The caution came days after armed South Sudanese gunmen attacked and abducted eight people in Agoro. Bainomugisha tasked them to provide security intelligence to the UPDF to support them in their operation of building more barracks at border points.

A team of police officers in Nakulabye, Kampala, derailed an attempted attack on their station by unknown people. The incident happened on Wednesday morning at around 4 AM. It is alleged that one of the officers was on duty as a station guard when he spotted an unidentified armed person approaching them from the western direction. The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said their officer immediately discharged bullets toward the alleged attacker, forcing him to flee. He added that, in the process, the assailant abandoned his AK-47 magazine with five rounds of ammunition.

According to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Ramathan Ggoobi, Government has realized a difference of over Shs142 billion from the projected Shs7.04 trillion for the first 4 months of the current financial year 2022/2023. Ggoobi says this has been possible due to the effectiveness of Government’s domestic revenue mobilization strategy.

In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, 22 November 2022, Uganda’s top businessmen who include Charles Mbire, Elly Karuhanga, Aga Ssekalala, Bob Kabonero and Badru Muwanga among others have thrown their weight behind the East African Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project,Β proposing that it is intended to transform the country.

The Chinese firm, China Railway 18 Bureau Group Co Ltd is seeking additional time to complete the seven World Bank-funded roads. These include Lakidi Road, Philip Adonga Road, Janani Loum Road, Kitgum Road, Tom Apila and Oneka Roads, all located in the Central division in Pandwong division. The Chinese contractor was given the contract for the work which was expected to last 18 months.

At least 100 women owned or women-led businesses will share a total of shs7.6 billion among themselves in seed funding from National Social Security Fund (NSSF) together with the Mastercard Foundation as part of the Hi-innovator Program. The Hi-innovator-Women cohort launched on Wednesday will see each of the 100 businesses getting $20,000 in grant funding. According to NSSF deputy Managing Director, Patrick Ayota, the initiative is aimed at supporting small and growing businesses by extending catalytic seed funding and building the capacity of entrepreneurship support organizations to ensure they become more competitive.

Uganda has shown improvement in the 2022 GovTech Maturity Index (GTMI), which covers 198 countries. According to the GTMI 2022 update, Uganda has been promoted to Group A, which includes the leading countries in this sphere. The index reflects what countries have done in the area of GovTech, such as supporting key GovTech systems, improving public services, encouraging more active citizen participation, and facilitating the development of overall digitalization.

Grade One Magistrate, Patience Koburunga has sentenced rally ace Ponsiano Lwakataka to 16 months in prison over malicious damage to property. Lwakataka, 51, has been sentenced to Kauga Prison alongside his brother, John Ssekitoleko, after being found guilty of criminal trespass and malicious damage to property on December 22, 2018, at Seeta in Mukono District.

Government through the ministry of health has delivered safe delivery maternity kit packs to Bugitimwa Health III in Budadiri East. While receiving the kit packs, the health centre In-charge, Gamisha Kahemba appreciated the National Medical Stores for always delivering medical equipment on time hence good service delivery.

Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) in partnership with Uganda communications universal services and access fund project (UCUSAF), has given out free phones to residents and farmers of Bulumba town council, Londe village. Β The phones have an APP called ICT4farmers which helps farmers access information like extension services, markets, enterprise management, resource sharing, pests and disease control. The project promotes ICT usage in local communities.

The construction of Muyembe-Namulu-Nakapiripiriti road in Nabbongo Sub County is progressing well. The 25km road stretches in 3 districts and will boost inter district trade and service delivery. During the recent Presidential elections, President Museveni also pledged the construction and tarmacking of Nabbongo-Bafumbula-Buwakooli roads.

Government has distributed bicycles to village chairpersons in 15 villages of Kichwabugingo parish in Kichwabugingo Sub-county headquarters. The bicycles are expected to ease movement of chairpersons and to improve service delivery in their area.

Residents of Ntura parish have appealed to Mbarara District leaders to fix parts of Mbarara-Ibanda road destroyed by floods.Β Β Yesterday, flooding water paralysed traffic flow when it submerged a section of Mbarara-Ibanda road at Kabale Village,Β Ntura parishΒ in Kagongi Sub-county.

Bukedea District Community Development Office (DCDO) has confirmed payment of SAGE monthly facilitation to elderly persons this month. The DCDO said paying older persons their monthly allowances at the Sub-county headquarters will commence on 28th November to 2ndΒ December 2022. The team will also enroll new older persons of 80 years and more.

Government has supplied drugs and other medical supplies to Bugitimwa Health Center III in Gombe-Gasawa Town Council. The consignment was delivered by National Medical Stores and received by the assistant in-charge Kahemba Gamisha on November 22, 2022.

Alexandre Ngandu, the acting mayor, Kamituga in South Kivu province yesterday confirmed that sixteen people in a mining town in eastern DR Congo have died in landslides that were triggered by torrential rain. Tristan Mukamba Mwanga, head of New Civil Society in Kamituga said that four villages in the town suffered landslides.
