πŸ“Œ Speaking at the release of the exams on Friday at State House Nakasero, the Education Minister, Janet Museveni said the results indicate that more learners are enrolling in UPE schools around the country.Β 

β€œThe statistics show a rise in confidence that the people of Uganda have put in UPE. This is because the number of pupils benefiting from UPE has increased by 1.7%. As UPE celebrates 25 years, it is heartwarming to know our people are benefiting from this Government program,” Mrs Museveni said.Β

πŸ“ŒThe UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo on Friday January 27, during the official release of 2022 PLE results said that in 2022, more candidates obtained Division 1 and Division 2. Odongo added that the overall pass levels are comparable between the two years, in terms of numbers, 714,702 candidates passed the PLE compared to 659,910 the previous year. Odongo said PLE results can be accessible by Parents and candidates from the Examination Center Portals using Short Message Services (SMS).Β

According to the results summary, more candidates obtained Division 1 and Division 2 than in 2020.Β

Dr. Rogers Mafuna, a Gynecologist from Skyline Medical Chambers in Mengo said Thursday that women have different effects that infect them ranging from different ages. School-going children should be prioritised to control infections in school.Β

πŸ“ŒIn a bid to fight striga weed that has ravaged maize plantations in Busoga region, the National Agriculture and Research Organization (NARO) has unveiled eight new varieties of maize which are resistant to the mentioned weed. Researchers led by Charles Lwanga explain that the new maize varieties have been under experiment in demonstration gardens set up in Iganga district.Β

πŸ“ŒThe Minister of works and transport Hon. Gen Katumba Wamala on Thursday presided over the launch of the construction of Kiterende -Kyabazaala roads and Nkoko – Kasawo roads. Present was RDC, Hon. Bakalumba Mukasa, area councillors and the contractors of the road. The RDC advised the community to work hand in hand with the contractor. The contractor is set to finish the works by January of 2024.

🌍 KENYA: No more 50/50 share of property during divorce, Court rules

πŸ“ŒThe Supreme Court of Kenya has ruled that spouses are not entitled to a 50/50 share of matrimonial assets after divorceΒ  because distribution of property is solely based on individual contributions. In the event of separation, each partner must prove their contribution to enable a court to determine the percentage available to them. The Court also stated that while Article 45(3) of the Constitution deals with equality of the fundamental rights of spouses during the dissolution of a marriage, such equality does not mean the re-distribution of proprietary rights or an assumption that spouses are automatically entitled to a 50 percent share by fact of being married.
