๐บ๐ฌ President Museveni commends religious leaders over corruption fight
๐President Yoweri Museveni has commended members of the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) for their willingness to join the campaign to fight vices like corruption in the country. The President made the remarks Wednesday evening while interacting with members of the IRCU led by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu.

๐Picfare Company that has operated business in Uganda for over twenty years decided to close shop. According to a notice by the liquidator, the decision by PICFARE to quit the Ugandan market was made on October 25, 2022. The liquidator informed Uganda Registrar of Companies that Picfare ceased to conduct any businesses except as far as is required to wind up the company.

๐Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni has been named the third most influential African leader on Twitter. According to BCWโs Twiplomacy, a digital diplomacy initiative by the strategic communication agency, BCW Global in their 2022 World Leader Power Ranking report, Kenyan President William Ruto ranked 13 worldwide, leading the pack in Africa and is closely followed by Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa.
๐บ๐ฌ Minister Otafiire assures security to Bagungu secession agitators
๐ While meeting the committee spearheading the planned secession of the Bagungu from Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom held at Lado Hotel in Masindi Municipality on Tuesday evening, Minister for Internal Affairs Maj. General Kahinda Otafiire assured the Bagungu secession agitators of security from the Government. During the meeting, the Chairperson Bugungu Cultural Revival Association, Norman Lukumu told Otafiire that there is no war between the Bagungu and Banyoro but the Bagungu just want to have their cultural identity.

๐ According to the Principal Public Relations Officer at Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Solomon Muyita, Ugandaโs Electricity Transmission Company is currently operating with only two transmission lines to supply Central and Western Uganda as a result of vandalism by unidentified people. UETCL is responsible for Power Generation at Kiira 200MW and Nalubaale 180MW power plants. Muyita says that the engineers are putting up temporary measures in place to restore the power supply.

๐The Commissioner General of Prisons (CGP), Johnson Byabashaija has revealed that Uganda Prisons Service (UPS) is in the process of promoting junior and senior officers. He has asked the officers that are not yet promoted to be patient and maintain discipline during the time being. Byabashaija made the revelation on Wednesday while presiding over the pipping ceremony of his new deputy, Samuel Akena at UPS headquarters.

๐Health minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng is today expected to receive Ebola vaccine candidates, which are to be used in the Tokomeza Ebola Vaccine Clinical trial, from the World Health Organization (WHO). Health ministry spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona said the vaccine candidates will be received today at the National Medical Stores (NMS) warehouse in Entebbe, Wakiso District.

๐ According to the Country Director of Bulamu Health Care, Mackay Masereka, 54,health facilities in Wakiso District have received vital signs equipments. While launching the first “vital signs” campaign in partnership with the Rotary Club of Naguru Kampala and Bulamu Health Care, Masereka said the vital signs campaign will first target 54 health facilities that will be monitored and ranked according to their performance using the monitoring tools supplied to various health facilities.

๐ In a bid to fight Ebola, Ministry of Health has partnered with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the cultural and religious leaders to scale up the national Ebola response. The initiative is partnered with the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda, Buganda Kingdom and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to improve standards of care and strengthen communication and community engagements to avert the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.

๐ According to Micheal Kasadha, the Busoga North Police Spokesperson, three armed robbers have been killed in Namwendwa Town Council, Kamuli District. This happened when unidentified armed robbers attempted to shoot at two local watchmen deployed at the Town Council and in retaliation the robbers were killed in action.
๐บ๐ฌ HOIMA: Government gives coffee farmers modern agricultural inputs
๐ Government through Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) offered agricultural inputs to 35 model coffee farmers in sub counties in Hoima District. The farmers received garden tools used for ploughing and pruning in coffee gardens. The function was presided over by the Deputy RDC at Kasokero village, Kisabagwa Parish in Kyabigambire Sub County.

๐ Karamoja Go Green, a Non-Government Organization (NGO) has petitioned Abim District Council to enact and enforce strict laws banning commercial charcoal trade. In a two-page document the NGO stated that commercial charcoal burning has led to unreliable rainfall patterns, sharp decline in agricultural food production and high temperatures. The document adds that commercial charcoal trade in Karamoja Sub region tantamounts to gross violation of the local peopleโs rights to having a clean, safe and pure living environment.

๐ With the help of local people,Police in Yumbe District intercepted 14 cows stolen from Ayago village, Okuyu Parish in Ariwa Subcounty. Residents say the cows had been stolen by unknown people and transported at night on December 6, 2022. According to Police, the cows are currently in their custody at Ariwa Sub County headquarters as the hunt for the suspects continues.

๐ SOUTH SUDAN: Ruling Party endorses President Kiir
๐South Sudanโs ruling party has endorsed President Salva Kiir as its candidate for another term in the countryโs delayed election set for the end of 2024. Speaking at the end of the Sudan Peopleโs Liberation Movementโs leadership session, Kiir accepted the ruling party endorsement for the 2024 election.
โWe passed through a difficult situation, but we came out and stood together,โ the president said to cheers. He added: โI have never failed you before; I believe that we will fight together whatever battles that are coming.โ
๐ KENYA: Odingaโs Azimio la Umoja accuses President Ruto of ‘discarding people’s agenda
๐The leader of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party Raila Odinga has presented a list of demands they want fulfilled by President William Rutoโs administration, failure to which they threatened unspecified consequences. This comes after the Odinga-led opposition team on Wednesday convened at the Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi for what they termed as the peopleโs consultative forum. In a subsequent statement sent to newsrooms by Odingaโs spokesman Dennis Onyango, the Azimio team hit out at President Rutoโs regime accusing it of discarding the peopleโs agenda under which they were elected to office.
๐ SENEGAL: Opposition Leader Ousmane Sonko faces rape charge
๐Senegalโs opposition leader, Ousmane Sonko has been questioned in a Dakar court hearing over rape accusations by Adji Sarr, an employee of a beauty salon where Sonko went for a massage. Sonko has denied the charge. Sonkoโs lawyer Henri Gomis told reporters that it was up to the plaintiffs to bring evidence of the accusations of rape.
โThey have not given any evidence,โ he said at the end of the hearing. โThe case must be dismissed.โ

๐Peruโs Congress has sworn in a new president, just hours after the legislature voted to remove left-wing leader Pedro Castillo in the third impeachment trial of his embattled and short-lived presidency. The opposition-led Congress on Wednesday afternoon overwhelmingly voted in favour of removing Castillo, who earlier in the day had announced plans to temporarily dissolve the legislature and rule by decree. Congress asked Boluarte to take over following its impeachment vote, and she took the oath of office on Wednesday afternoon to become the first woman to lead the South American nation. She was sworn in as president through 2026.
