🇺🇬 *P𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢 bans MPs, Civil Servants foreign travel*
📌President Museveni has banned foreign travel of Members of Parliament and senior civil servants in the latest move to save the Government from unnecessary expenditures. The savings from the foreign trips will be used to fund critical Government projects. The President issued the directive while commissioning new structures at the Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK) in Kiryandongo on Saturday.
“Some of them just want money to travel abroad. Tell the civil servants, MPs, and all politicians to stop traveling abroad. Money is wasted on external travel, and here Kigumba is crying out for money. This is really poor planning,” said President Museveni.
🇺🇬 *UBOS to form 2023 National Census committees ahead of February launch*
📌The Executive Director Uganda Bureau of Statistics Godfrey Nabongo, in a letter dated January 12, directed Chief Administrative Officers and town clerks across the country to coordinate and establish committees to undertake census advocacy and publicity for the NPH August 2023. The census committees will also be formed at the Districts, municipalities, cities, Divisions, Sub Counties, parishes and village levels in a period of two weeks before the program launch in February.

📌Alitwala Rebecca Kadaga, the Minister of East African affairs has announced that the Uganda High Commissioner to Kenya and Seychelles, Dr. Hassan Galiwango, has died. Galiwango died Monday morning at Nairobi Hospital where he had been admitted.
🇺🇬 *Two districts fight over Palorinya subcounty*
📌Obongi District is still embroiled in conflict with its mother District Moyo over who owns the Palorinya sub-county. The Sub county hosts the Palorinya Refugee Settlement. In December last year, the Constitutional Court ordered Parliament and the Local Government Ministry to return to the ground and consult the people of Palorinya Subcounty on where they prefer to belong.

They include; the smart permit, you can apply online and get your planning permit, pay revenue online, get your building permit and get sanitation help using the Weyonje App, among others.
🇺🇬 *Karamojong warriors kill UPDF soldier, steal gun*
📌Security forces in Karamoja sub-region are hunting for suspected cattle rustlers from Matheniko who attacked UPDF soldiers at Lobunariye village, Kosike sub-county in Nabilatuk district, shot Private Bainomugisha Asaph and took off with his gun. Brig Gen Joseph Balikudembe, the UPDF 3rd division commander condemned the act, and that the assailants will pay for it.

📌Gulu University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Food Programme (WFP) to improve food productivity among refugee communities and the host communities in the Northern Region.The MoU was signed on Thursday between the WFP delegation headed by the Country Representative Abdirahman Meygag and Professor George Openjuru Ladaah, the Vice Chancellor of Gulu University.

📌Authorities on Friday called for cross-border meetings between Rwanda and Uganda to address rampant theft cases around the borders. This was during the handover of 39 cows which were on Tuesday stolen from Rushojwa Cell, Kibanda Parish, Kamwezi Sub County in Rukiga district to Rwanda at Buziba customs in Rwamatuguru.

📌Born-again Christians will host the East African Re-awaken Revival Connection Convention, an international convention from January 12-14 at Kamuli Girls Secondary School in Kamuli District. The chief organiser Maj. Kayima Margret says the convention will bring together more than 2000 Christians from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and South Africa.
