📌The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party has commended Kenya for holding a peaceful Election. The party Director of Communication Emmanuel Dombo appreciated the political leaders for the high standard of maturing exhibited in the Kenya General Election. He challenged the opposition to copy notes from Kenya’s opposition.

📌Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) yesterday 10th August 2022, rescued a girl who had been kidnapped and was going to be forced into marriage. This follows a video that went viral on social media of a 15 year old girl being carried into a car forcefully by various men. Different people reacted to the video calling it an act of violating human rights.
📌The incident happened on Saturday in Kyotera district in the areas of Mukabuta-Kibaati.CID boss Dr. Tom Magambo immediately ordered a probe into the popular practice and ordered immediate action. According to the CID boss, Naome, the kidnapped girl was rescued yesterday, 10th 2022, evening by CID officers. Okukyiriza is a common practice in the Western region, where a girl is dragged away into marriage against her will. Minister Frank Tumwebaze wrote on his twitter handle saying that Okukyiriza is an act of kidnap that all leaders should fight against.

📌According to police, district medical engineer was arrested as part of investigations into the circumstances under which an assortment of equipment was stolen from Kayunga Regional Referral hospital. It is alleged that the hospital engineer was involved in the theft of equipment from the hospital and transporting them in a Toyota Hiace, registration number UBL 057K.

According to authorities, Abraham Ruhesi was hit by fragments of the explosive in Kyamagambo Cell, Rutooma Ward, Rwentuha Town Council in Bushenyi District.

📌Forestry Authority (NFA) have embarked on a forest restoration initiative worth Shs100M for 60 hectares of forest land. This corporate social responsibility program is in commemoration of FINCA’s 30th anniversary in Uganda. The initiative will cover a period of five (5) years while the restoration planting will be spread to ten central forest reserves across the country.
📌The first restoration planting is being launched in Bajo Central Forest Reserve in Bbaale constituency, Kayunga district.

📌Namisindwa has today been declared free from Anthrax disease after four months of quarantine. Anthrax is a rare and potentially fatal bacterial disease that most commonly affects the skin and tends to affect hoofed animals and humans
📌According to Mr. David Mityelo the Namisindwa district production officer, during quarantine the district put much emphasis on vaccination of all animals against Anthrax and that is how they are disease free.

📌Government has given relief food of about 20,000 bags of maize flour, 10,000 bags of beans and 200 pieces of tarpaulins to people affected by drought. According to RDC’s office, the Sub Counties of Aminit and Kamutur will benefit from the relief items.

📌During the primary schools Head teachers’ meeting at the Sub County headquarters called by the Sub County Chief, it was exposed that professionalism had declined among teachers as teachers are always absent, drunk and lack cooperation with head teachers.
The meeting resolved to improve monitoring in order to identify challenges in schools early enough.

📌Guide Leisure Farm in partnership with National Agricultural Research Organization has organized an Agribusiness Skills Trade Fair which will take place at Apex Primary School in Kinoni Town Council.
According to the coordinator of Guide Leisure Farm, the trade fair will focus on production of poultry and animal feeds, piggery management, marketing, health promotion and value addition.

📌 Sierra Leone which has been struggling with rising inflation and fuel crisis imposed a nationwide curfew from 3pm local time (1500GMT) in a bid to stem the violence that left security personnel dead.
📌Sierra Leone’s Information Minister Mohammad Swaray Swaray confirmed that the lives of security personnel had been lost amid mass protests that hit the country last evening. The demonstrations took place across parts of the capital Freetown and other cities known as opposition strongholds .They are rallying against the high cost of living in the country, corruption and police brutality. Some are also calling for the President to step down.

📌In 2017, the African Union (AU) proclaimed September of each year as “Africa Amnesty Month for the surrender and collection of illicit small arms and light weapons” (SALW) as well as encouraging widespread support for efforts to stop the smuggling of SALW as well as advance the AU’s “Silence the Guns in Africa” by 2030 initiative.
The AU has urged its Member States to continue with “Silencing the Guns” initiatives throughout the year to sustain any momentum gained during September.
This year, the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) plans to support amnesty activities in Liberia, Tanzania, and Togo.
